#1 | The Dings of Dinner
Sometimes you can chalk it up to butter fingers - dropping a fork or saucer on your beloved table. Other times, the culprit is a move across town - or across the country - and you end up with bumps and bruises on your belongings. Gone are the days when furniture must be pristine with no "patina." Nowadays, our clients want their family history (a.k.a. dings) preserved, not sanded away.
#2 | Susan Did It
Our clients, Dr. and Amanda Davis, told us their gorgeous gate-leg pine table once was adorned by a lazy susan. The unique markings in the center of the table tell the tale. If those indentations could talk...they would tell of wonderful times, great meals, and amazing memories made.
#3 | Penny For Your Thoughts
I grew up in Tifton. The train runs right through town...and right behind my childhood church. After church on Sunday nights, my buddy and I would put pennies on the tracks so the train would smash them paper thin.
When we began restoring the Davis's table, we noticed a cool indentation embossed in the hinge of one of the leaves...the Lincoln Memorial.
Did a curious kiddo try to smash a penny years ago using the table leaf? Maybe it was an attempt to pinch a penny? (Terrible pun) We'll never know, but the table still tells the tale.
